Ed Sheeran surprised Pokémon fans in San Francisco with a special performance as the Pokémon World Championships wrapped up Sunday night.

The Grammy-winning singer took the stage at Chase Center to perform the Pokémon theme song during the final night of the three-day event.

Tens of thousands of people descended on San Francisco over the weekend for the Pokémon fan convention and World Championships.

The finals were held Sunday at Chase Center, with competitors vying for a share of $2 million in prizes.

Andrew Hedrick, 20, was named this year’s Masters Division champion for the Pokémon Trading Card Game, while Takuma Yamazaki won the video game title. Several other winners also took home cash prizes.

Outside Moscone Center, Howard Street was transformed into a fan fest for the three-day celebration.

Next year’s Pokémon World Championships will be held in Singapore for the first time.’
