The San Francisco Fire Department and San Francisco Animal Care & Control rescued a wild parrot Sunday after the bird became trapped on a third-floor balcony of an occupied building under construction.
SFFD firefighters assisted Animal Care & Control Officer Mullen on Sunday’s call, according to the fire department. Firefighters accessed the roof and lowered a ladder down to the balcony.
Once on the balcony, rescuers carefully slid the green parrot upward to free its head, which was stuck between two pieces of glass.
Rescuers wrapped the bird in a towel and handed it to Officer Mullen for a physical examination.
“Thankfully they were fine: their wings, legs and neck were all ok, so Officer Mullen released the bird,” SFFD reported in a social media update.
