(FOX40.COM) — Merced County deputies are searching for a Sacramento man suspected of shooting and killing a security guard over the weekend.

The Merced County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to reports of a shooting at a private event around 11:12 p.m. on Saturday at the Los Baños Fairgrounds.

Authorities arrived to find 31-year-old security guard Kody Pena with multiple gunshot wounds and pronounced him dead.

MCSO identified the suspect as 21-year-old Gabriel Angel Salas from Sacramento. Deputies said that he is wanted for murder and believed to be in the West Sacramento area.

Salas is described as being 5 feet 10 inches, of medium build, with hazel eyes and long black hair.

Authorities believe he is armed and dangerous. Anyone who sees Salas is asked not to approach him and to call 911.
