ROSEMONT, Ill. – Middle blocker Marianna Singletary of UCLA women’s volleyball was named Big Ten Player of the Week after leading the Bruins to a perfect 2-0 start to open the 2026 campaign, announced Monday afternoon by league officials.
This marks Singletary’s second Big Ten weekly honor, and the fifth conference weekly honor of her career. The Charleston, S.C. native won three consecutive SEC Defensive Player of the Week awards during the 2024 season at Texas.
Singletary led UCLA to a perfect 2-0 start on opening weekend, anchoring the Bruins with elite two-way production in both matches against Long Beach State. In Friday’s four set win at LBSU, she delivered a blistering performance with 16 kills on a .429 clip while roofing nine blocks, repeatedly snuffing out Beach swings and propelling UCLA through momentum shifting stretches. She followed that outing with another commanding effort inside Pauley Pavilion, striking for nine kills, adding eight more blocks, and finishing with 13 points as she controlled the net from start to finish. Across the two matches, Singletary combined for 25 kills on .385 hitting with 17 total blocks.
The Bruins will begin their 11-game road trip when it takes on No. 3 on Wednesday, Sept. 2 at 4 p.m. PT inside Historic Memorial Coliseum. The Bruins will then travel to Coral Gables, Fla. for a pair of matches at Miami on Sept. 4 and 5. Friday’s match is set for a 4 p.m. (PT) first serve and Saturday’s contest is slated for a 1 p.m. (PT) start.
