(KRON) — A wild green parrot was rescued by firefighters in San Francisco Sunday before it was released back into its urban habitat.
San Francisco Fire Department officials said the parrot’s head was stuck between pieces of glass on a third-floor balcony. The building is under construction.
To reach the distressed colorful bird, firefighters lowered a ladder from the building’s roof down to the balcony. Firefighters carefully slid the parrot’s body until it was no longer trapped and wrapped it in a towel.

An animal control officer checked the parrot for potential injuries. “Thankfully they were fine: their wings, legs and neck were all ok, so Officer Mullen released the bird,” SFFD wrote.
The rescued parrot may be part of a famous flock, known as the wild parrots of Telegraph Hill. On any given day, a flock of the noisy, colorful parrots can be seen flying over different parts of San Francisco.
