A Sacramento Valley family is looking for answers after their loved one was shot and killed while visiting Seattle.  

29-year-old Connor Scott Overstreet, identified by family and the King County Medical Examiner’s Office, died August 23rd. His family believes the incident was a random act of violence. 

“He was my best friend, an incredible husband, son, friend, US Coast Guard aviator, and all around wonderful human,” his sister, Shea Overstreet, said in a statement to ABC10.

The King County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a shooting around 12:40 a.m. near South 124th Street and South Langston Road.

The fire department arrived and provided medical aid, but Connor did not survive, according to the sheriff’s office.

Connor was born and raised in the Sacramento region, according to his sister, who lives in Sacramento County.

She said her brother was in Seattle for a work training when he was killed. Connor was a U.S. Coast Guard aviator. His sister described him as someone who dedicated his life to helping others.

“All Connor wanted to do was save lives by flying for the Coast Guard,” Shea said. “His loss is a tragedy felt by countless people. He was truly the best of us.”

Connor’s family is also asking anyone with connections to the Seattle community to share his story and come forward with information that could help investigators.

“We plead for any information to bring peace to his family and justice for Connor,” Shea said.

The King County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the shooting as a homicide. No arrests have been made.

Detectives are asking people who may have surveillance video from the area between 12:30 a.m. and 1:15 a.m. Aug. 23 to submit it to investigators here. Crime Stoppers is offering a $30,000 reward, according to the sheriff’s office.

The Coast Guard said in a statement to KING 5, a TEGNA station, “The Coast Guard is deeply saddened to confirm the death of LT Connor Overstreet, an active-duty member at Coast Guard Air Station Ventura, following an incident in the Seattle area. We extend our deepest condolences to the member’s family, friends and shipmates during this tragic time.”
