Fresno-based Electronic Recyclers International is expanding its international footprint again, partnering with India’s Eco Recycling Ltd., or Ecoreco, to launch an e-waste recycling and IT asset disposition operation known as ERI India.

The venture, co-owned by ERI and Ecoreco, is expected to begin doing business later in 2026, according to a news release. The companies said the partnership will combine ERI’s electronics recycling and circular economy technologies with Ecoreco’s local infrastructure, knowledge and regional networks in India and overseas.

Growing Asian footprint

The India venture is the latest in a series of international moves by ERI this year. The company announced plans in March for its first international operation in Japan through a 50-50 partnership with ITOCHU Corp.

Earlier this month, ERI announced another joint venture in Vietnam with local recycling firm Green Marble Co. ERI Vietnam is also expected to begin operations later in 2026.

ERI describes Ecoreco as India’s only publicly traded e-waste recycling and electronic waste management company.

ERI provides material resource recovery, IT asset disposition, mobility, data destruction and processing services and electronics recycling. The company has eight locations in the United States, with services ranging from data destruction and advanced shredding of end-of-life IT equipment to remarketing, recycling, logistics and regulatory compliance.

Technology and the circular economy

According to the company, ERI also uses proprietary software to track IT assets through its chain-of-custody process. Its recycling technologies include AI image recognition and robotic arms used to automatically sort shredded materials.

ERI and Ecoreco said ERI India will focus on recovering materials from end-of-life electronics and returning those resources to the circular economy for use in new products.

“Ecoreco and ERI working together signals a uniquely powerful partnership that will bring best sustainability and circularity practices from the US and India together as one brand. Our work will be done in a radically transparent, end-to-end closed circular loop manner where materials will be kept out of landfills, responsibly recycled, and put back into the circular economy to produce new products in India, where there is a tremendous demand for such services,” said John Shegerian, ERI’s Chairman and CEO.

Billions of pounds recycled

ERI said it has recycled more than 3 billion pounds of e-waste in the United States since its establishment and has audited ITAD and recycling partners in more than 140 countries. The Ecoreco partnership represents ERI’s first owned and ERI-branded location in India.

“By combining ERI’s proven expertise, advanced technologies and global standards with Ecoreco’s local knowledge, infrastructure and regional networks, ERI India will build a transparent, technology-driven and internationally compliant circular economy ecosystem in India. The partnership was highlighted during a ceremony held as part of the Material Recycling Association of India International Business Summit in Tokyo over the weekend,” said B.K. Soni, chairman and managing director of Ecoreco.

The India agreement adds another market to ERI’s growing international footprint. With its Japan, Vietnam and India ventures, the Fresno company has now announced plans for owned operations in three Asian countries in 2026.

ERI India is scheduled to begin operations later this year.
