A pursuit and shooting involving police shut down part of the northbound 710 Freeway in Long Beach early Tuesday.
According to the Long Beach Police Department, officers responded to reports of a shooting on the 200 block of Aquarium Way shortly before 12:30 a.m.
Police found three victims of the shooting. Two of them were taken to a hospital and one was treated at the scene. All three victims were said to have nonlife-threatening injuries
The suspected gunman was spotted in the area near Burnette Street and Pacific Avenue. But when police attempted to stop the driver, a pursuit began.
During the pursuit, the suspect shot at officers on the 710 Freeway. Police then fired back at the man.
The chase came to an end after the driver collided with a fire hydrant and a pole in downtown Los Angeles near 11th Street and Santa Fe Avenue.
The driver suffered injuries from the crash, but was not injured in the shooting. He was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
No officers were injured in the incident.
