Three people were injured in a shooting early Tuesday, Sept. 1 in Long Beach that prompted a police pursuit to downtown Los Angeles and an exchange of gunfire.
Officers responded to a shooting around 12:24 a.m. in the 200 block of Aquarium Way, the Long Beach Police Department said in a statement.
Two people were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries and another victim was treated at the scene, police said.
The suspect fled in a vehicle after being found by officers near Burnett Street and Pacific Avenue, Long Beach police said.
The suspect fired shots at Long Beach police officers and an officer apparently returned fire while the driver was pursued on the northbound 710 Freeway, police said.
The suspect ended up colliding into a pole in downtown Los Angeles, was taken into custody and to a hospital for injuries related to the collision, Long Beach police said.
Officers and the suspect were not struck by gunfire, and a firearm was found, authorities said.
