Sacramento leaders to vote on zoo expansion plans

Jennifer ParsonsSACRAMENTO, Calif. —

Sacramento city leaders will vote Tuesday on whether to move forward with plans to expand the Sacramento Zoo.

The zoo wants to expand into two areas: a 1.4-acre parcel directly next to the existing zoo and a 4.4-acre parcel across Land Park Drive.

The zoo said the additional space would help it build new habitats and improve existing enclosures.

The vote would formalize the potential expansion in the zoo’s operating agreement and lay out a path forward for future development. It would not approve construction or commit the city to providing funding.
