A man convicted by Sacramento jurors of sexually abusing two girls over a 10-year span could face life in prison when he is sentenced in October.
David Phillip Gallegos, 65, was found guilty of 11 counts of lewd acts on a child and seven counts of forcible lewd acts on a child in connection with the abuse of the two girls, who were between 5 and 15 years old at the time, the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office said in a statement.
Sacramento Superior Court jurors also found true allegations of aggravating factors and a sentencing enhancement for multiple victims, prosecutors said.
Gallegos was arrested by Sacramento County sheriff’s deputies in December 2020. Sheriff’s officials at the time said that Gallegos, then 59, had volunteered as a youth basketball coach with Sacramento-area school districts and operated a private basketball coaching clinic.
Gallegos is scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 16 before Sacramento Superior Court Judge Steve White.
