Los Angeles County Fire Department crews said forward progress of the Hilary Fire in Palmdale stopped just before 3:30 p.m.
The Hilary Fire was reported around 2 p.m., burning near 40th Street and Barrel Springs Road. It reached about 74 acres.
Evacuation warnings had been issued for zones PAL-032 and LAC-E049.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
