A brush fire growing in southern Orange County is threatening structures in Rancho Carrillo as crews work to battle the blaze.
Initially, emergency personnel believed the fire was 450 acres but after securing better mapping of it, they determined it was actually at 220 acres. Due to the fire’s proximity to Riverside County, residents in that region affected by the blaze will receive emergency notifications as they arise, officials said.
Due to the fire, State Route 74 is closed eastbound at Gateway in Rancho Mission Viejo and westbound at Grand in Lake Elsinore, CalFire said.
A shelter-in-place order was issued for Zone ORT01.
