MERCED COUNTY, Calif. (FOX26) — A 21-year-old Sacramento man has been arrested in connection with the deadly shooting of a security guard at the Los Banos Fairgrounds.
The Merced County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded around 11:12 p.m. on August 29 to a shooting at a private event.
They found security guard Kody Pena dead at the scene.
Detectives identified Gabriel Angel Salas of Sacramento as the suspect.

Authorities say Salas turned himself in to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office early Wednesday morning and was booked into jail on a murder charge.
Investigators are now working to extradite Salas back to Merced County.
The Sheriff’s Office thanked the public and several Northern California law enforcement agencies for helping with the investigation.
