The estate of Nipsey Hussle has released an album titled “Prolific,” along with a collaboration to sell physical copies of the album at a unique vending machine.
“Prolific,” which was a project between Hussle and Bino Rideaux, was released on streaming platforms on Aug. 14. The release comes more than seven years after the death of Hussle, whose real name was Ermias Joseph Asghedom.
Rideaux, who was born Brandon Rainey, said he’s proud to see the collaboration officially available as he continues to honor his late collaborator.
“This project, we did a decade ago,” he said. “It was set to release right after ‘Victory Lap.’ You know, after the tragedy, everybody was just not even in the headspace to even think about the music.”
“This album, man, is a classic. It’s timeless music,” said Samiel Asghedom, the late rapper’s brother. “It’s called ‘Prolific,’ a joint collaboration with Bino and Hussle. This is another classic that I’m proud and honored to be able to put out into the world for people to enjoy.”
With the album’s release comes a collaboration with VenHub to sell physical copies of the album at one of its vending machines. The particular vending machine selling CDs and vinyl records of “Prolific” is located at Union Station in Downtown Los Angeles.
“It’s something you don’t see enough of anymore, something tangible,” Rideaux said of the album having physical copies. “Everything is streaming now in this industry, but for us to have product you can really have in your hand … It’s real dope.”
The special installation with Hussle’s posthumous project will be available through Friday.
