The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County recorded its largest increase since July 25 Wednesday, rising 3 cents to $5.784, its 15th consecutive increase.
The average price has risen 14.2 cents over the past 15 days, including eight-tenths of cent Tuesday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 9 cents more than one week ago, 7.1 cents more than one month ago and $1.146 more than one year ago.
The average price has increased $1.09 since the start of the joint U.S./Israel attack on Iran on Feb. 28, which sent oil prices higher and drastically accelerated increases at the gas pump.
The Orange County average price recorded its largest increase since July 18, rising 3.3 cents to $5.771. It has also risen 15 consecutive days, increasing 19.6 cents, including 1.9 cents Tuesday.
The Orange County average price is 12.2 cents more than one week ago, 10.4 cents more than one month ago and $1.16 more than one year ago. It has increased $1.135 since the start of the attack on Iran.
The national average price rose for the third consecutive day, increasing 2.5 cents to $4.12. It has risen 4.2 cents over the past three days, including 1.5 cents Tuesday. The national average price is 1.9 cents more than one week ago, 2.4 cents more than one month ago and 93.4 cents more than one year ago. It has increased $1.138 since the attack on Iran.
The national average price is at its highest amount this late in the calendar year, according to Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, which provides real-time gas price information from more than 150,000 stations.
