Fullerton College celebrated the grand reopening of Building 300, home to the Division of Business and Computer Information Systems (CIS). A historic renovation project, Building 300 dates back to 1937 and today, stands strong as a cornerstone of Hornet history, innovation and legacy.
“Building 300 creates an environment where students can learn, collaborate and connect their present education to their future. It gives our faculty modern spaces to create meaningful learning experiences in fields that continue to change, from accounting and business to artificial intelligence and emerging technologies,” said Vice President of Instruction, Dr. Carlos Ayon.
The reopening event included remarks by Fullerton College President, Dr. Cynthia Olivo, Vice President of Instruction, Dr. Carlos Ayon and North Orange County Community College District (NOCCCD) Chancellor, Dr. Byron D. Clift Breland. A ribbon-cutting ceremony shortly followed, including President Olivo, college staff, and Chancellor Breland alongside his staff, NOCCCD Board of Trustees, Westberg White Architecture and members of the NOCCCD Citizens Oversight Committee.

As the college’s sixth renovation effort, Building 300 joins a robust list of recent completed capital projects, including the new humanities building, Student Support Center, Maintenance and Operations Building and Chiller Plant.
The experience also featured self-guided tours, where attendees explored classrooms, study spaces and a brand-new adjunct faculty office, a space designed for adjunct instructors to conduct office hours, engage in professional development opportunities and much more.
The Steve Haddadin Study Area, named after Adjunct Faculty Steve Haddadin, is also officially open and ready to welcome students in need of a study space at any point in their academic journey.

The project was brought to Fullerton College by Westberg White Architecture, Simpson & Simpson Management Consulting, Icon West and MAAS Companies, in collaboration with the campus’:

– Campus Safety
– Administrative Services
While the renovation embraces its rich history, it also holds a touch of modernity, with enhanced safety and technological features designed to elevate the instructional experience, working environment and more.
“What is especially meaningful about this project is the balance between history and innovation. We have preserved an important part of Fullerton College’s past while creating a learning environment that supports where our students and industries are headed. The walls may date back nine decades, but what happens inside them continues to evolve.” said Dr. Ayon.
During self-guided tours, attendees explored two floors that included classrooms, faculty offices, computer labs and more. In May 2026, this project earned Fullerton College’s Capital Projects team the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) Southern California Project Achievement Award for Historical Renovation in the Education under $50M category.
Building 300 is now open and ready to serve as an integral part of Fullerton College. While continuing to honor its life, it will also proudly represent the business and CIS community, comprised of faculty, staff and future leaders.
