ALAMEDA — Police are thanking information gained from an automated license plate reader for helping them in the arrest of a person they said had burglary tools and drugs while driving a stolen vehicle.
In a statement, police said they arrested the person on suspicion of possessing a stolen vehicle and burglary tools, as well as for an outstanding warrant. Police did not immediately disclose the the nature of the warrant.
The LPR notified police that a stolen vehicle was near the South Shore Shopping Center and that an officer began a traffic stop after seeing the vehicle.
An examination of the vehicle revealed the driver had narcotics, drug paraphernalia, and many keys belonging to more than one vehicle, police said. They added the driver also had multiple debit and credit cards belonging to more than one person.
