After defeating San Jose State in the season opener on Saturday, USC football is back in action this week. The Trojans are set to host Fresno State at the Coliseum Friday in their second game of the year.

Of course, the Bulldogs are led by a familiar face. Fresno State head coach Matt Entz served as USC’s linebackers coach during the 2024 season.

Following the Trojans’ Tuesday practice, USC head coach Lincoln Riley discussed his relationship with Entz.

“We have a good relationship,” Riley said. “It was great having him with us there for the year. It was great having another head coach in the room.

“He did a great job here. We were sad to see him go but happy for him to get the opportunity at Fresno, and seems like it’s been a good fit for him. He’s a really good football coach.

“That’s one of the schools that other then a week where we’re playing them, we all root for around here. I hope they win every other game except this one.”

Kickoff between Riley’s Trojans and Entz’s Bulldogs is set for 6:00 p.m. Pacific time Friday on Fox.
