BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Kern County Coroner’s Office identified a Lamont man who died in a hit-and-run crash earlier this month in south Bakersfield.

The coroner identified the man as Zacarias Ecahua Chipahua, 26. He died in a crash on Oct. 2 at around 5:18 a.m., at the intersection of South H Street and Houghton Road.

Chipahua was a passenger in a vehicle that collided with another at the intersection.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the driver of a pickup truck who drove past a stop sign collided with a vehicle Chipahua was in. The pickup truck overturned but the driver ran from the scene, CHP said.

Chipahua was pronounced dead at the scene.
