The latest initiative in Del Taco’s improvement plan, introduced in March as Project Sunrise, is a revamp of its catering program to be a new growth avenue for the company.
The Lake Forest-based chain will no longer use a third-party platform for its online catering orders, which can now be placed directly through the website with an expanded menu. Del Taco said it has also developed new back-of-house tools for restaurant employees to use in managing and deploying orders.
The new ordering system aims to give Del Taco and its restaurants “greater ownership” and control of the catering business, according to the company.
“Our menu works extremely well for group orders, and our catering relaunch supports an improved sales channel for our restaurants and franchise partners, while creating a significant opportunity to be part of occasions where Del Taco has historically had a limited presence,” Chief Transformational Officer Ulyses Camacho said in a statement.
