Spike strips, K9 used during police chase in Sacramento; 1 arrested
A police pursuit that began in downtown Sacramento ended in an arrest and the suspect being taken to the hospital, officials said.
The Sacramento Police Department said officers tried to conduct a traffic stop near J and 7th streets due to reckless driving, but the vehicle did not yield, prompting the pursuit. The suspect led officers onto a freeway before entering back into the city, police said.
Sacramento police said an officer successfully used spike strips near Freeport Boulevard and Sutterville Road to help slow the suspect down.
The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said the pursuit ended at Sutterville Road and 24th Street, where the suspect was apprehended by a K9 and arrested. The extent of the suspect’s injuries is unclear.
