The American Canyon High football team picked up its second straight win on Friday night, this time beating Sacramento 49-7.
A week after throwing a last-second touchdown to help win a game at Clayton Valley Charter, Wolves’ quarterback Kameron Hunter threw for two touchdowns in this home win. Hunter also had a rushing touchdown.
American Canyon plays old Solano County Athletic Conference foe Benicia on Friday.
Rio Vista 44, Vallejo 37
The Vallejo High football team lost its season opener on Friday, falling on the road to Rio Vista 44-37.
The Redhawks were held scoreless in the first half, but regrouped to put up 14 points in the third quarter and another 23 points in the fourth quarter. However, it wasn’t enough with Rio Vista also scoring 37 second-half points after leading 7-0 at the half.
Keyno Brown had three touchdown runs for Vallejo, while Curtis Berry had a touchdown pass to Romero Butts.
Jovante Hines had a 62-yard kickoff return for a touchdown and Julio Ramirez had an 8-yard touchdown run for Vallejo.
Vallejo will play next week at home against Napa before traveling to visit old Solano County Athletic Conferene foe American Canyon on Sept. 18.
San Rafael 58, St. Pat’s 14
The St. Patrick-St. Vincent High football team lost to San Rafael 58-14 on Friday night to fall to 0-2 on the season.
The Bruins had trouble stopping Freddy Yah, who completed 21 passes for 262 yards and three touchdowns.
St. Pat’s will go on the road for the first time this season on Saturday with a matchup at Terra Linda.
