FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — A plane crash killed two children and left two people critically injured, in Northwest Fresno, around 1:50 pm, on Saturday, Sept. 5.

Agencies from across the county responded to the scene to fight the fire that began, because of the crash, and to look for survivors.

“First responders located two people who were transported to the hospital in critical condition,” Josh Sellers, the public information officer for the Fresno Fire Department, said. “Unfortunately, there’s two other individuals who were located inside the plane. They’ve been pronounced deceased.”
According to the Fresno County Sheriffs Office, those two individuals later identified as children and were confirmed to have died as a result of the crash.

Another two people were taken to Community Regional Medical Center with critical injuries.

Surrounding neighbors captured video of the aftermath of the crash.
“Heard a big thump outside, a big noise,” Todd Armas, a neighbor, said. “Just came out here and immediately smelled smoke, looked out that direction, saw a lot of just dark smoke flying out from everywhere.”
Fresno City Council Member Mike Karbassi took to social media to acknowledge the tragedy.

“This is a rare and tragic situation in northwest Fresno, my immediate concern is for the survivors of this heart wrenching situation,” Karbassi said. “At the appropriate time, my office with reach out and ensure they have what they need as they recover.”
The crash took place near Sierra Sky Park, near W Spruce Ave & N Blythe Ave.
Now this isn’t the first time a plane has crashed in this area.

IN 2016, two people tragically lost their lives after a small plane crashed down near Sierra Sky Park.
47-year-old William Huene and Chase Splan, 32, were killed in the crash.
The sheriff’s office said Huene was the pilot.
