Over a dozen fans of the Chainsmokers were rushed to local hospitals on Friday during the duo’s San Jose concert at Discovery Meadows.
On Sept. 4, the San Jose Fire Department wrote on social media that they responded to several calls for assistance at the venue with a capacity of 26,000, due to “reports of multiple patients requiring medical attention.”
Fire officials called upon assistance from “an Ambulance Task Force, two additional advanced life support fire units, and a Battalion Chief to manage the incident and provide additional medical resources.”
The SJFD noted that 14 ambulances responded and “14 patients were transported to local hospitals.”

Patients were hospitalized due to a variety of medical concerns, including “suspected alcohol intoxication and drug-related issues,” NBC Bay Area reported, citing police.
Additionally, police said at least 10 people were taken to the hospital within the final 30 minutes of the show, while others were treated at the venue, according to ABC 7 Eyewitness News. No fatalities were reported. Authorities have not addressed whether arrests have been made.
Entertainment Weekly has reached out to the San Jose Police Department and the Chainsmokers for comment on the incident.

The duo, composed of artists Alex Pall and Drew Taggart, have not publicly addressed the incident. The official Chainsmokers account did not acknowledge the medical emergencies though the duo have shared several posts in the days that followed the incident, including footage from their Saturday concert, which saw them take the stage at Wynn Las Vegas’ Encore Beach Club.

The Chainsmokers rose to fame in 2014 with their breakout hit “#Selfie” and have since won a Grammy, two American Music Awards, and topped several charts with hits, “Roses,” “Don’t Let Me Down,” “Paris,” “Something Just Like This,” and “Closer,” featuring fellow hitmaker Halsey.
