EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — A third person has died one day after a fatal plane crash took place Saturday in Northwest Fresno, which involved four people, the Fresno County Sheriff’s office said in an update on social media Sunday.

An adult woman who was on the plane passed away Sunday after being transported to the hospital. The fourth person, who is an adult man, remained in critical condition.

Two children aboard the flight were pronounced dead at the scene, while the two adults were transported to the hospital following the crash.

The names, ages and relationships of the victims are unknown right now, the Fresno County Sheriff said in an update on social media.

The crash happened around 1:50 p.m. Saturday, according to the Fresno County Sheriff. Fresno firefighters and police officers responded to reports of a crash on the 7300 block of N. Blythe Ave. and found a fixed-wing single-engine airplane on fire on top of a bluff on the San Joaquin River.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames from the crash and prevent them from spreading to nearby homes next to the San Joaquin River.

The National Transportation Safety Board, which is investigating the crash, said the plane involved was a Grumman American Avn. Corp. AA-5 airplane.
