Long Beach State overcame a two-set deficit to beat the University of Wyoming volleyball team, 25-27, 12-25, 25-19, 25-13, 15-10 at the Utah Classic on Sunday in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Long Beach posted 17 blocks to the Cowgirls’ eight. It also had eight services errors compared to Wyoming’s 14.
Freshman Rylee Heinz tallied a team-best 14 kills for UW while hitting .360. She also had six blocks. Both of those totals are career highs.
Ruby Jensen, Reagan Sharp and Addy Thorington all notched seven kills.
Sophomore setter Sara Quigley dished out 22 assists, while redshirt sophomore Maddy Stucky posted 20. Stucky also had eight digs and two ace serves.
Paige Lauterwasser tallied a team-best 16 digs, while libero Rya Fingerlin posted 11.
UW hosts the UniWyo Invitational starting Thursday. The Cowgirls square off with UC Santa Barbara on Thursday, South Dakota on Friday and Colorado State on Saturday.
