TOWN OF OAKLAND, Wis. (WMTV) – One person is dead after a bicycle hit a pickup truck in Jefferson County on Sunday afternoon.
Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office officials said they were called around 2 p.m. Sunday to the intersection of US Highway 18 and Park Road in the Town of Oakland for a traffic crash.
When officials arrived at the crash site, they determined that the biker was trying to turn onto Highway 18 from Park Road, traveling northbound, when they veered too much into the roadway and collided with an F250 truck pulling a trailer.
The biker was then thrown from the bicycle.
Medical services were called to the crash site, but the biker died from their injuries.
The driver of the pickup truck is cooperating with authorities, and the investigation remains ongoing by the Jefferson County Major Accident Investigation Team.
JCSO was assisted at the crash site by Lake Mills Fire Department, Ryan Brothers Emergency Medical Services, Jefferson County Emergency Communications and the Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office.
