Keeping cozy on your couch, with your go-to snacks nearby and your best pal pup on your lap, is a dream, as is the chance to quickly switch over from a television show that has ended to a favorite movie, or vice versa.

But savoring two entirely different pop culture phenomena in a single stretch while existing beyond your couch is rather harder, for the outer world doesn’t offer us many whimsical mash-ups, those playful pairings that place separate entertainment experiences in one space.

SugarMynt Gallery, South Pasadena’s bustling hub of art, eeriness, outdoor film screenings, and colorful community, is giving us the offbeat opportunity to leave the couch and enter a location filled with odes to both a charming Cartoon Network series and Michael Myers, one of filmdom’s enduring horror icons.

“Pottsfield Meets Haddonfield” is the destination’s upcoming exhibit, a fanciful happening that will spotlight over 40 artists besotted with “Over the Garden Wall” and “Halloween,” the 1978 horror classic that was filmed just steps from the gallery’s front door.

“When Harvest and Horror Collide” is the event’s quirky enticement, and visitors to the gallery can expect to find creative tributes to Wirt, Enoch, and the other figures found in the wholesome 2014 Cartoon Network series, as well as Laurie Strode, The Shape, and the characters who so memorably and frightfully fill the scary suburban masterpiece.

Opening night is Sept. 12, and the exhibit will be on view through Nov. 29. The gallery will be closed Tuesdays and Thursdays, and hours will be extended in mid-October.

While the autumnal and forested realm of “Over the Garden Wall” may not seem, at first glance, to be connected with the schools, homes, and famous hardware store of “Halloween,” both have become fall re-watch classics.

Supernatural occurrences, brave characters facing down potential foes, and a strong seasonal sense of place are hallmarks of both the animated series and the movie.

A movie that was indeed filmed in large part around South Pasadena, including at the Century House, which stands just south of SugarMynt Gallery. The historic structure, which formerly stood a bit further up Meridian Avenue, is better known as the Myers residence among “Halloween” fans; on Halloween night, a line for photos extends down the sidewalk.

Want to attend the opening night celebration? There’s a way to RSVP on the SugarMynt site.

Don’t forget to wear your snuggly cloak or favorite babysitting outfit to the affair, one of the autumn-iest pairings to be found this side of Pottsfield or Haddonfield.
