FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — The Fresno Chaffee Zoo is partnering with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife to host the “Toss the Tusk” event to teach about the illegal ivory trade.
The event will be held at the Fresno Chaffee Zoo on September 11th from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on the 12th from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.
The event will include an ivory collection, educational chats around the zoo, and a screening of a video telling the story of Assembly Bill 96, which 10 years ago banned the sale of ivory and rhino horn in California.

AB 96 strengthened the authority and ability of the California Department of Fish and Wildlife to combat illegal wildlife trafficking that threatens global biodiversity and encourages the poaching of endangered species.
