LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Holiday traffic has returned to Interstate 15 heading from Nevada to California for Labor Day.
Cars were backed up from the Primm area for more than four miles on southbound I-15 as of 1:30 p.m. Monday.
More traffic awaited commuters on I-15 in the Mountain Pass area in California.
I-15 southbound routinely sees heavy traffic as holiday weekends conclude. One reason is that the interstate shrinks from three lanes to two on the California side, forcing cars and trucks to merge after passing the state line.
The Coalition for Our Future, a public-private collective, has called for changes to the I-15 corridor between Primm and Barstow to improve safety and mobility.
The coalition includes the Vegas Chamber, Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority and Nevada Resort Association as members.
