BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The California Highway Patrol is encouraging parents to sign up for free car seat checks in Bakersfield on Friday to better protect their children while driving.
The event is scheduled from 8 a.m. to noon Friday, Sept. 11, at the CHP Bakersfield Office at 9855 Compagnoni St., according to officials.

Through this event, parents can make sure their child’s car seat is installed properly.
The event is by appointment only. To schedule an appointment, call 661-396-6600.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to bring their children along with their car seats to have them inspected by specially trained technicians, CHP said in a release Tuesday.
CHP said all children should use size-appropriate car seats or wear seatbelts if they’re older.
