A Compton man was arrested Tuesday in connection with a strip mall fire two years ago that destroyed a pizza restaurant in Whittier.
Luis Arreola is accused in the Sept. 10, 2024 fire in the 13500 block of Telegraph Road that destroyed several businesses, including Pizzamania. Pizzamania had been served the community southeast of downtown Los Angeles for the past 50 years.
Arreola was arrested on suspicion of arson after members of the Major Crimes Bureau-Fugitive Task Force and investigators from the Arson Explosives Detail served a search warrant at his southern Los Angeles County residence.
Bail was set at $75,000.
Details about what led to the arrest were not immediately available.
Arreola also is suspected in an October 2025 arson in Riverside. Authorities are attempting to determine whether he has a connection to other arsons.
Anyone with information for investigators was asked to call the LASD Arsons and Explosives Detail at 323-881-7500.
