If you were not one of the few hundred people who attended Sunday’s Tower Bridge Dinner, there’s another opportunity to engage with farm-to-fork chefs and local wine and beer producers this week — and it costs a lot less.
On Thursday, Sept. 10, Cal Expo will host its inaugural An Evening on the Farm, a family-friendly event connecting growers, chefs, brewers, vintners and food advocates who make Sacramento’s food scene so vital. Guests will enjoy chef-designed bites made with seasonal ingredients from regional farms, as well as California beverages, while strolling the grounds of The Farm at Cal Expo.
Luminary chefs include Bobbin and Patrick Mulvaney of Mulvaney’s B&L, mobile pizza maven Jodie Chavious, Jennifer Millsap of Oak Park catering and deli Shef Madres, and others.

One of Sacramento’s best-kept agricultural secrets, The Farm at Cal Expo has been on the fairgrounds since 1984. It has been a year-round agricultural classroom to help Californians understand where their food comes from, and the people and work behind it.
The Farm’s impact goes beyond education. In 2025 alone, the Farm grew and donated 11,000 pounds of fresh produce to the Sacramento Food Bank, helping food grown in the heart of Sacramento reach families throughout the community.
Proceeds from the event will go toward efforts to expand and enhance the Farm to increase that impact, providing a more consistent supply of locally grown produce for the community.
The reception will take place on Thursday, Sept. 10, from 4:30-7 p.m. at The Farm at Cal Expo, 1600 Exposition Blvd. Tickets cost $51 per person.
