(FOX40.COM) — Elk Grove city officials are expected to meet with representatives from Wilton Rancheria Wednesday evening to negotiate over a portion of the property that was previously considered for the relocation of the Sacramento Zoo.
The property, located at 8675 Kammerer Road, had been chosen as the location for a plan to move the Sacramento Zoo until those plans were scrapped in April of last year. Earlier this month, the Sacramento City Council agreed to a deal that would allow the zoo to expand at its current Land Park location.
According to city council meeting documents, the city manager Jason Behrmann and city real estate program manager Ann Gravaare will discuss “price and terms” with Wilton Rancheria Chairman Jesus Tarango.
Wilton Rancheria, a federally recognized tribe based in Sacramento County, has not made any announcements as to what it would do with the property, but the land is less than a mile from the tribe’s Sky River Casino.
