Gabby Petito’s parents to speak in Vacaville on youth dating violence

Gabby Petito’s parents and Sacramento firefighter Joseph Hunter will speak at a free event in Vacaville on Thursday to raise awareness about youth dating violence and promote healthy relationships.

The parents of Gabby Petito, a New Jersey woman killed by her boyfriend during a cross-country trip that gained national attention on social media, will speak in Vacaville Thursday to raise awareness about youth dating violence.

Her parents are featured speakers at the “Breaking the Silence” event, which aims to help teens and young adults build healthy relationships and provide parents, educators and community members with tools to recognize warning signs before violence begins.

Sacramento firefighter and two-time “Survivor” finalist Joseph Hunter will also speak at the event, sharing his experience of losing his sister to domestic violence.

The free event will take place from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at “Journey Downtown” in Vacaville. Registration is required at breakthesilenceevent.com.
