BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A woman charged with hit-and-run in a crash that killed a pedestrian on South Union Avenue made her first court appearance Thursday afternoon.
Guadalupe Garcia Hernandez, 36, was arraigned on her charges Sept. 10. A public defender entered a not guilty plea on her behalf.

Hernandez’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 23. She is being held on $500,000 bail.
Hernandez was charged with hit-and-run causing death or injury, as well as traffic infractions for driving without a license and failing to provide proof of registration or insurance.
She also has a pending misdemeanor drunken driving case, according to court records.
Crystal Louise Spores, 34, was walking outside a marked crosswalk in the 2500 block of South Union Avenue on Sunday when she was struck by a vehicle traveling northbound, according to investigators. The vehicle fled before officers arrived at around 7:30 p.m.
Spores was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers found the vehicle on Cottonwood Road using video footage and arrested Hernandez, who allegedly admitted to being the driver and only occupant in the vehicle when the crash occurred, according to police.
