One person died and two others were injured Wednesday afternoon when a white minivan veered off the Capital City Freeway in Sacramento and struck a tree, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The fatal crash occurred about 4 p.m. Wednesday along the Capital City Freeway near Del Paso Regional Park, just past the merge with Interstate 80.
The minivan went off the freeway, through a fence and onto Longview Drive before hitting a tree, CHP online dispatch records show. The minivan came to rest near the Sacramento Softball Complex.
The woman driving the minivan died from injuries suffered in the crash, and two other women in the vehicle suffered serious injuries, ABC 10 reported.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the name and age of the woman who died after her family has been notified.
