“This is a good reminder that coyotes can be found in urban environments and throughout Pittsburgh neighborhoods, suburbs, and parks,” public safety officials said in a social media post, adding the canines are naturally active during daylight hours, particularly dawn and dusk.
Officials said if anyone encounters a coyote, they should make themselves look as large as possible and make noise to encourage it to move away. They said running from a coyote can trigger its instinct to chase.

State Police arrest 450 drivers for DUI over Labor Day weekend
Pennsylvania State Police arrested 450 people for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs over Labor Day weekend, officials announced Thursday.
Troopers also issued more than 25,000 citations — nearly 6,500 of which were for speeding — during its Labor Day weekend enforcement initiative, which ran from Sept. 4-7.
During that time period, state police investigated 790 crashes. Of those, 152 involved injuries and three were fatal.
Officials said 67 of the crashes that occurred last weekend involved impaired driving. None of the fatal wrecks involved people driving under the influence.
Over the same holiday weekend last year, there were 750 total crashes. That included seven fatal incidents, two of which were DUI-related.
This year’s 450 DUI arrests over the holiday weekend reflects a decrease from 529 such arrests last year.
