BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A Bakersfield man, with a warrant for grand theft, was arrested after allegedly stealing about $200 in Target merchandise in Delano and was linked to a separate theft days earlier.
The Delano Police Department said on September 10, 2026, at around 3:55 p.m., officers were called to Target regarding a theft in progress.
Police said officers found the suspect, identified as 37-year-old Anthony Martinez of Bakersfield, inside the store.
According to police, Martinez had allegedly opened several packages of merchandise, removed the security devices, and was found with about $200 in unpurchased items on him.
During the investigation, Target employees identified Martinez as a suspect in a separate theft reported at the store on September 6, 2026.
Martinez was arrested for both incidents and was also found to have an outstanding warrant for grand theft. He was taken and booked into the Kern County Jail.
Police said this case will be forwarded to the Kern County District Attorney’s Office for review.
