Sacramento’s Legends of Wine and Grand Tasting combine for new culinary event
Sacramento’s Legends of Wine and The Grand Tasting have joined forces to create the California Grand Tasting, offering a unique experience of food, wine, beer, and more
SACRAMENTO, Calif. —
Two of Sacramento’s most popular culinary events, Legends of Wine and The Grand Tasting, have united for the first time to create the California Grand Tasting, a new signature experience featuring a variety of food, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic options.
“The flavor is so refreshing you could drink a whole bottle of it and not realize it,” said Tara Porter, describing one of the wines available at the event.
Guests enjoyed sampling a wide range of beverages. When asked why he was holding two glasses, Jim O’Keefe said, “Well, I have a wife that is thirsty. Number one. Number two. She loves Rombauer Wines and especially the Chardonnay and I’ve not tried their Barbera before, so that’s for me.”
For those seeking non-alcoholic options, mocktails were also on the menu. Attendees noted the variety of flavors available, with one describing a drink as “citrusy, there’s like a tropical fruit to it.”
The event paired wine and beer with a diverse selection of food. “I haven’t had one thing that I was like man, it’s all so good,” said Kian Roblin.
One unique offering combined cheese and chocolate. “It’s cheese with chocolate,” one guest said.
Shelley Joyer shared her experience of trying something new.
“I actually said I would never try this. I tried it,” she said. “It’s amazing. We tell kids all the time, you need to try what you like, don’t like. So here I am, proving my point.”
The event also celebrated the region’s farm-to-fork culture. “Food in season tastes the best,” one attendee said. Another added, “The closer it is, the better it tastes, and we have some great producers here in the valley.”
For some, the event was an opportunity to share flavors from their roots.
“I wanted to do something really special to me,” one participant said. “These are Hatch chilies. They’re originally from New Mexico. I’m from New Mexico, and we are now growing these chilies here in Esparto, California.”
John Trujillo, executive chef of Mulvaney’s B&L, shared his thoughts on the unique flavors he brought to the event.
“Definitely an untapped market. I didn’t even know if I wanted to share it because it’s so special to me, everyone should try it,” he said.
The California Grand Tasting offered attendees a chance to explore a variety of flavors, from local farm-to-fork dishes to unique beverage pairings, creating a memorable culinary experience.
