Maya Cinemas near Fresno State abruptly closed Friday, but a new theatre operator was announced just one day later.
Campus Pointe announced Saturday that Galaxy Theatres will take over operations at the complex.
“Galaxy Theatres will be the new theatre operator at Campus Pointe,” Campus Pointe said in a news release. “Galaxy Theatres has locations throughout the western United States, including a strong presence in California.”
Galaxy has built its brand around its philosophy of being “More than just a Theatre,” combining a first-class moviegoing experience with a commitment to the communities it serves, according to Campus Pointe.
“As Galaxy begins operations at Campus Pointe, the focus will be on a smooth and timely transition, followed by planned improvements to enhance the guest experience,” the release stated.
It is not yet known when Galaxy Theatres will make its debut at Campus Pointe. The company said more details will be shared soon.
A sign posted on the glass door at the theatre instructed customers who purchased tickets or gift cards from Maya Cinemas to contact the company at 559-549-0005.
Maya Cinemas opened at Campus Pointe on May 22, 2025, after delays.
It was the fourth theatre complex built by the chain.
The movies shown during the opening included “Poltergeist,” “Tomorrowland,” “Mad Max: Fury Road,” “The Avengers: Age of Ultron,” “Pitch Perfect 2,” “Far from the Madding Crowd,” “Furious 7,” “The Water Diviner,” “Hot Pursuit” and “Monkey Kingdom.”
