The San Diego Union-Tribune wants to hear from San Diegans about their housing situations. More specifically, we are interested in people who are long-term renters.
More than half of San Diego County households are owner-occupied. Renters live in the rest. In 2024, San Diego had the fourth-highest percentage of renters in the nation. Some renters who don’t own a home are priced out of the market, but others choose to rent, even if they can afford to buy.
Do you live in San Diego city or county, and are you undecided between renting and buying a residence?
Are you able to afford a home purchase and planning to stay in San Diego for the long term, but prefer to remain a long-term renter?
If you have lost interest in purchasing a home, even if you can afford to buy, what factors are at play: affordability and/or something else?
When did you decide to stop looking to purchase a home in San Diego city or county?
Do you or have you ever owned a home?
What neighborhood do you live in?
