Costco fans have another local treat to look for in the dairy aisle, but it won’t last long.
Rosa Brothers Milk Co., a Tulare dairy company, is now selling six-packs of their 12 oz bottles of their special horchata milk at Fresno-area and other Central Valley Costco stores. The wholesaler already carries the brand’s chocolate milk on a year-round basis, but this is the first time Costco is selling a second flavor.
Kathleen Johnson, the director of sales and marketing at Rosa Brothers Milk Co., said the company delivered two shipments to Costco warehouses. She expects the products to be there through September 25th, but admitted that it’s not a firm date, as the company’s announcement received an ‘overwhelming’ amount of attention on its social media platforms.
“It’s a new flavor (at Costco), so it brings excitement,” Johnson said.
The horchata milk launched 8 years ago. It’s not made with rice, like traditional horchata, but instead through blending the dairy’s milk with cinnamon, rice starch and other flavors.
Rosa Brothers Milk Co. has sampled other milk flavors (such as banana, strawberry and root beer) at Costco before, but through weekend-long sampling events.
“We hope this leads to additional flavors being added in the future,” Johnson said.
Rosa Brothers Milk Co. recently celebrated its 14th anniversary, but the milk in all of its products comes from a third-generation dairy farm with 1,000 Holstein cows. The company has a physical retail store at 2400 S. K Street in Tulare, but also sells its products through several other retailers, including Sprouts, Save Mart, Food Maxx, Food 4 Less and others.
