BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The Kern County Coroner’s Office has identified a man who died in a crash on East Lerdo Highway as 21-year-old Jonathan Joan Cruz Arizmendi of Shafter.

The Shafter Police Department posted on social media on August 27 at around 12:09 a.m. about a crash on East Lerdo Highway between N. Driver Road and Zerker Road.
The coroner’s office said the crash happened on August 26, 2026, at around 11:03 p.m.
The report said Arizmendi was driving a vehicle when it left the roadway and overturned. He died at the scene.
