The San Diego Police Department released results from a DUI checkpoint held over the weekend in Pacific Beach.
Officers conducted the DUI and driver’s license checkpoint Saturday night from 10 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. in the 2400 block of Grand Avenue.
According to SDPD, 944 vehicles passed through the checkpoint. Of those, officers screened 589 drivers, and 22 were given further evaluations.
Nine people were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, police said. Another driver was cited for operating a vehicle without a valid or suspended license.
SDPD added that more DUI patrols and checkpoints can be expected as part of ongoing efforts to reduce deaths and injuries caused by impaired driving.
