Two former Navy sailors are pleading guilty to selling fentanyl-laced pills to San Diego-based sailors — including one who later died of an overdose.
Federal prosecutors say the two men, ages 25 and 29, sold counterfeit oxycodone pills containing fentanyl to active-duty sailors, including during deployments.
In late 2022, they sold 10 pills to a sailor assigned to the USS Abraham Lincoln. He later died from acute fentanyl intoxication.
The two pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute controlled substances and are scheduled to be sentenced in December.
