The Port of Long Beach will celebrate and thank the hardworking truck drivers who move America’s cargo through the San Pedro Bay safely and securely with a Trucker Appreciation Day event on Tuesday, Sept. 15.

Free breakfast, refreshments and Port-branded giveaways will be offered at the 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. event, which coincides with National Truck Driver Appreciation Week.

Truckers at the event can also take advantage of free Clean Truck Check testing required by the California Air Resources Board. The Clean Truck Check program, which applies to the 17,000 registered with access to the ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles, aims to meet air quality standards by ensuring heavy-duty vehicle emissions control systems operate properly throughout the life of the vehicle.

CALSTART representatives will also be available to explain how to access funding for purchasing new zero-emissions trucks through the California Hybrid and Zero-Emission Truck and Bus Incentive Project (HVIP). With funds collected by the San Pedro Bay ports, HVIP offers significant assistance in truck purchases.

The Port of Long Beach previously released $30 million in vouchers: $75,000 for fleets with more than 20 trucks and $100,000 for fleets with fewer than 20 trucks. The Port plans to release another round of $30 million for vouchers later this year.

Trucker Appreciation Day will take place at the “waiting lot” at the southwest corner of Pico Avenue and Broadway in the Port of Long Beach.

Information will be available in Spanish and English.

The Port of Long Beach is building the Port of the Future™, guided by its bold new 2050 vision and a plan to double current container volumes to 20 million units annually by 2050. By strategically modernizing the Port’s infrastructure with $3.3 billion in capital investments over the next decade and developing digital systems to dramatically enhance efficiency and visibility, the Port is also becoming the world’s first zero-emissions port. Today, the Port moves cargo valued at $300 billion a year and generates 2.7 million jobs across the U.S., as it continues to lead the world on sustainability programs and plans to double those benefits by doubling volume. As one of only 18 commercial strategic seaports in the U.S. with a duty to support force deployment during national defense emergencies, a community partner that offers $3 million per year in sponsorships for local nonprofits, and a major catalyst for workforce development, creating opportunities for students far and wide, the Port is well-positioned for even higher achievements. After all, industry leaders named Long Beach “The Best West Coast Seaport in North America” for an eighth consecutive year in 2026. The Port of Long Beach. Always open. Always moving.
