GROVER BEACH, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A 67-year-old alleged bank robber from Bakersfield was arrested after police used an automated license plate reader, according to the Grover Beach Police Department.
Police say that around noon, officers responded to a reported bank robbery at the Wells Fargo Bank at 1580 W. Grand in Grover Beach.
Officers arrived at the bank within three minutes of being dispatched.
Police say they learned that the suspect passed a note declaring he was robbing the bank.
No weapons were seen, and police said the teller gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of cash, and the suspect, identified by police as 67-year-old Brent David Muir, left out the east side doors on foot.
According to police, community cameras (CCTV) near the bank and automated license plate reader technology identified the suspect, and the suspect’s vehicle was identified within minutes.
According to police, around 1 p.m., an alert deputy with the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office located the vehicle near Highway 101 and Highway 46 in Paso Robles.
Deputies made a high-risk traffic stop, and the suspect was arrested without incident.
67-year-old Brent David Muir, of Bakersfield, was named as the person arrested. He was booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail on robbery and burglary charges, according to police.
