VENTURA, Calif. — An Orange County company, Global Stack, proposed an idea to the Ventura County Fairgrounds Board of Directors that sparked outrage from the community.
The plan was to build infrastructure they said could help with emergency resilience, but many in the community feared it would bring a data center to the fairgrounds. While Global Stack said it wasn’t pitching a data center, others in the community argued otherwise.
The Ventura County Fairgrounds Board of Directors ultimately voted to give the company a 30-day notice that it wouldn’t be moving forward with its current non-binding Memorandum of Understanding.
The company is looking to pitch this idea to up to 70 fairgrounds across California.
